My top five motivators are learning, impact, family, problem solving and challenge.
Cultivating meaningful relationships of trust is the most effective means for me to accomplish anything, both personally and professionally. Gaining valuable global leadership and facilitation experience while tapping into the collective expertise of the international franchise partners I collaborated with has provided me the ability to gain a deep operational knowledge that drives business growth.
Earning my CPA certificate early in my career gave me a solid business foundation I leverage in a variety of ways, along with the variety of experiences in my background I have learned from. Working directly with people on their business development goals and guiding them towards their next stage is where I thrive.
Franchise Peer Performance Groups are a proactive technique to invigorate your franchise network. They are a proven mechanism to drive engagement, growth and profitability. I’ve guided franchisors to successfully launch groups in international markets as well as leading groups myself.
Nothing brings out the best in people more than a healthy comparison of what’s happening amongst their peers. Key metrics can reveal interesting stories about an organization. Revealing these stories is a skill I’ve developed over time and adapted to many different scenarios. Combining the ability to build trusting relationships with metrics stories allows me to develop cohesive groups that can be powerful tools for business growth.
Challenges and opportunities are like puzzle pieces. I look forward to getting to know you and your business so we can tackle the puzzle together.
My passion in life is inspiring, supporting and teaching others. I love watching people grow and it encourages me to learn from every opportunity as well. This has led to a purpose-filled career journey as a therapist and psychologist, crisis counselor, coach, teacher and professor.
I was inspired by my grandfathers who each pursued entrepreneurial opportunities; encountered and overcame multiple speed bumps; and left legacies that have outlived them both. I credit them for inspiring each of my entrepreneurial journeys and persevering through the challenges along the way. I am proud to have built a business from the ground-up, rescued and resurrected a business in need, contributed to our multi-generational family business and supported hundreds of other business owners along the way.
I fell in love with franchise as a franchisee and appreciated it even more after being a franchise business coach. Since I love learning and helping others, earning a Masters in Counseling and Doctorate in Business Psychology provided additional education and content so I could provide the best support clients deserved.
As a lifelong learner, I am inspired by others and honored to be on a growth journey alongside other students, colleagues and mentors. Since 2018, I have been a member of the Society of Industrial Organizational Psychologists (SIOP) and working toward a CFE with the International Franchise Association. As a proud University of Nebraska-Lincoln Husker undergraduate, I am honored to return as a College of Business Professor and Advisory Board Member.
My goal is to leave this world after inspiring and empowering as many people as possible. I hope to learn just as much from people, experiences and mistakes before I go.
Performance groups and leadership development were the most powerful and valuable tools from my 12-years as a franchisee. I was a founding member of the inaugural International Franchisee Performance Group of a Global Franchise brand which was beneficial in several ways. As an example, we had managed to convince ourselves of the need to maintain or even reduce our fee levels during a recession. With input from our performance group, we implemented annual fee increases to our private clients. Due to the quality of our service and the trusting relationships already established, these were accepted by our clients and had a direct positive impact on our margins.
As a Home Instead franchise owner, I was privileged to be a member of a performance group led by Kay where she pushed us to greater results – benefitting the franchisor, my franchise and the other franchises she facilitated.
We all enjoyed the rewards that came with improved performance.
Nothing brings out the best in people more than a healthy comparison of what’s happening among their peers. Many people who think they are masters of their industry are often humbled by the comparative success of other business leaders. Innovation may or may not result in financial excellence. Without properly going through the process of introspection and open comparison of Key Performance Indicators, business is often only successful in the eyes of the business owner.
I was honored and blessed to have Lindsay as a group facilitator. She created an environment that made every participant comfortable, whether it was providing feedback to someone else or being vulnerable and accepting constructive criticism.
Participating in a performance group has opened my eyes to opportunities for improvement inside my business as well a leader. In addition, it left me with a feeling of gratitude for the opportunity to assist fellow colleagues.
In the book Beyond Entrepreneurship, Jim Collins suggests starting with values and all else follows. "This means that values come before goals, strategy, tactics.... and even business plans." Since we attempt to practice what we preach, we espouse these core values to guide life and business.
Commit to the highest standards of professionalism. Deliver exemplary results.
Encourage growth in ourselves and others. Learn from opportunities and take accountability for mistakes.
